IBA: Thomas Starlinger speaks on regulation of cross-border trade in electricity
In the course of the annual IBA conference taking place in Vienna this year, Thomas Starlinger will speak on “Electricity Cross-Border Trade – European Union” as member of the panel on “Regulation of cross-border trade in electricity”.
Regulation of cross-border trade in electricity faces various challenges, such as electricity’s inefficient storability, subsidies, the industry’s national geopolitical strategic importance, natural monopoly components, and the different market structures in trading countries, among others. The panel “Regulation of cross-border trade in electricity” organised by IBA’s power law committee will discuss the main barriers that can hamper electricity trade and how these barriers can be addressed in selected cases. Thomas Starlinger will provide the European perspective to the panel.
The session will take place on Tuesday, 6 October from 9:30 to 12:30, in room 2.15 (level 2). More information about the IBA conference 2015 is available at www.ibanet.org/Conferences/Vienna2015.aspx.
